UD TELDE   1   LANZAROTE   2,     10th September 2016,

The Rojillos (The Reds) earned their first away win of the season with their second consecutive victory thanks to a goal in each half from new boy Dani López.

Lanzarote dominated the match and went out looking for the early goal. Chances for Jorge Pulido and Kennedy tested the Gran Canarian keeper early on but in the 25th minute a delightful defence splitting ball from Miguel Gómez set Dani López clean through.

The Rojillos new signing looks great value as he took one touch before unleashing a deadly finish from the edge of the box low into the bottom left hand corner to give his side a 0-1 advantage.

Lanzarote had opportunities to double their score but failed to capitalize and five minutes before the break were made to pay. Telde striker Arrazola ran at the Rojillos defence and from a similar position to Lanzarote´s goal the big striker fired in low into the right hand corner giving keeper Agoney no chance and sent his side into half time break with the score level at 1-1.

The second half continued much the same as the first half period with Lanzarote attacking but being met with a stubborn Gran Canarian defence.

The home side rarely broke forward as the Lanzarote keeper became a spectator but still the Rojillos could not find the breakthrough.

Finally with three minutes to play persistency was finally rewarded. A cross come shot from Miguel Gómez had the home defence desperately trying to scramble the ball away but the clearance fell straight to the feet of Dani López and from just one yard out he stuck the ball home to give Lanzarote all three points and send his new club up to fourth spot in the league table after four games.

After almost a year on the sidelines through injury Brad Cockerill finally came on as a sub in the 88th minute to finally put to bed his cruciate knee problem. All this was on the eve of the British boys 21st birthday. What a great present for the Lanzarote midfielder.

Next Sunday at the confirmed time of 12 noon Lanzarote will be looking to extend their amazing home run to 44 games since a defeat, against Tenerife side CD Buzanada. The leagues new boys are currently in fifteenth spot having won one, drawn one and lost two of their opening four matches.
