LANZAROTE 4 SD TENISCA 2
LANZAROTE 4 SD TENISCA 2, 11th January 2015
A hat trick from Captain Rosmen and a headed goal from British lad Louis Kennedy was just enough to send the Conejeros (locals) four points clear at the top of the league.
The Rojillos looked in the mood from the start as they closed their opponents down forcing them into errors in their own back four.
In the 14th minute midfielder Marcos Cabrera who has only just returned from injury delivered in a deep cross from the left wing and Louis Kennedy kept his eye on it the whole way and from the narrowest of angles the 21 year old found the gap low at the far post and nodded his team into a 1-0 lead.
In the 19th minute a quick and intelligent free kick taken by Marcos Cabrera was read by Rosmen, the league’s top scorer launched himself Andy Gray style into what could have been a clattering but instead what he got was his head onto the ball before the keeper and brilliantly doubled Lanzarote´s score to 2-0.
The La Palma side were not playing bad football as they neatly passed the ball around. In the 24th minute the visitors had a great opportunity to reduce the deficit when midfielder Chema was put through by striker Riki however his strike was easily saved by Lanzarote´s number one Agoney.
On the half hour Lanzarote made full use of the frailties of the Tenisca defence and went 3-0 up. Rosmen who was tearing the defence apart was winning everything in the air and a cross from the right was met first, of course, by Rosmen and the Rojillos went into the break with a huge advantage.
Most of the crowd were hoping for an avalanche of goals for Lanzarote in the second half but the visitors didn’t deserve that. It was noticeable to see that the Rojillos had dropped down a gear or two and gradually the confidence of the La Palma side began to increase as the second half grew.
All looked doomed again though for the visitors as they were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when defender Fleki received his marching orders with a straight red.
A minute later and the 10 men saw a glimmer of hope when they were awarded a penalty with Rojillos Sub Echedey looking as though he had won the ball but the Ref believed that he had taken his opponents foot first. Striker Nacho Quirini confidently put the ball into the top left hand corner to make the score 3-1.
In the 79th minute Lanzarote left back picked up his second yellow card with a challenge so late it looked as though we were watching it in slow motion. I am sure his manager Adolfo Pérez will be furious with the lack of concentration.
The La Palma side were given another lifeline and two minutes after Lanzarote´s red card they pulled another goal back when Nacho Quirino headed his and his side’s second goal to make it an uneasy final 10 minutes for the Rojillos as the score was poised at 3-2.
With just a single minute of normal play remaining Toñito was brought down clearly by ex Rojillo Camacho and Lanzarote were awarded a spot kick. Rosmen blasted the ball home for his hat trick and ease any last minute nerves for the home fans with a final score of 4-2.
Lanzarote remain top and have stretched their lead to four points though their nearest challenges CD Marino have a game in hand. The Rojillos will face a tough challenge next weekend when they travel to Tenerife to play Atlético Granadilla. After a poor start to the season the Tenerife side have rocketed up the league to 8th spot and unbeaten since the 1st of November.
