UD VECINDARIO 3 LANZAROTE 1
1st December 2013
One point in the last five games sends the Rojillos in freefall down the league table to 13th spot. One bit of hope is that out of the next five matches, four are at home.
The Gran Canarian side dominated play in the early stages and deservedly took the lead in the 12th minute through striker Néstor Trujillo. The home side then had good chances to double their lead soon after their goal but the Lanzarote defence stood firm.
In the 27th minute Rojillos manager Adolfo Pérez was forced into reshuffling his pack when defender Oscar Aguiar was subbed through injury and replacing him was junior player Acaymo. The youngster didn’t have a debut that he will wish to remember as he conceded a penalty and was subsequently sent off.
Lanzarote gradually pulled themselves back into the game and in the 37th minute striker Rosmen headed home to level the score at 1-1 which took his side into the break on level terms.
The hosts still looked the better of the two sides in the opening 15 minutes of the second period and goal scorer Néstor Trujillo should have put his side two up when he only managed to hit the woodwork from just a few yards out following a cross from the right.
With the Rojillos getting back into the game disaster then struck with 20 minutes to play. Vecindario defender Dalios shot and the ball deflected off debutant Acaymo´s hand and the Ref ordered a penalty kick. The unlucky youngster was then shown no mercy by the Ref who brandished the red card and he was unfortunate to end his debut match early.
The experienced and much travelled 36 year old midfielder Ángel Sánchez made no mistake sending his side 2-1 up from the spot.
With not much to lose Lanzarote pushed forward and were denied a leveller by the inform Vecindario keeper on various occasions.
In added on time midfielder Néstor Gordillo wrapped up the game on the break to make the final score 3-1.
It’s been a bad run of results for the Rojillos however during this horrid run they have played the top three teams but now have a chance to put some points back on the board with the next four out of five games being at home.
A game due to be played on Wed 11th December has been brought forward to Friday 6th December at 12 Noon. Both sides agreed this as Wednesday is an ordinary workday and many local fans wouldn’t be able to make the game. The Friday is Constitution Day in Spain and is a Public holiday so hopefully we will have a good turnout to face 11th placed Fuerteventura side CD Cotillo.
