Lanzarote couldn’t have gotten off to a better start with 16-year-old Edu firing his side into a 0-1 lead in the opening minute.

On the half hour Lanzarote doubled their lead thanks to new striker Álvaro Cordero. The home side scored just before the break then five minutes into the second half to level matters at 2-2.

The Rojillos other new striker Aco Hernández restored Lanzarote’s lead two minutes later to make it 2-3.

The old saying that you are at your most vulnerable when you have scored came true for Lanzarote as the home side levelled a minute later to end the match 3-3.

As this was a tournament match (San Rocque) the game was decided on penalties and the locals won 3-2.

In two weeks’, time Lanzarote will return to face Villaverde in a league match on Saturday 19th September at 12 noon. This is an event that the club plan to do an organized excursion. Details will be announced early next week.

We will be open from Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and then again from 5-7pm up until and including the 9th September. We will also be open this Saturday 5th September from 10am to 1pm.

Season tickets are available during these times. Our first match of the season is at home on Sunday 13th September at 11.30am.

As always, our stall in Teguise market will be open every Sunday from 9.30am until 2pm.

From the 10th September our shop will return to its normal hours of Mon-Fri 10am to 1pm and also Wednesdays 5-7pm.

The Rojillos dominated the first half but failed to create clear chances. In the 35th minute striker Aco Hernández had a golden opportunity to give Lanzarote the lead from the penalty spot but his effort was well saved.

Five minutes later Yaiza were awarded a spot kick and made no mistake from it and went into the halftime break with a 0-1 advantage.

The second half was much more even but it wasn’t until the 73rd that Lanzarote equalized. Nadjib for the second time this pre season scored superbly from a corner kick.

The match ended level at 1-1 and went directly to penalty kicks. Unbelievably the first five penalties were either saved or missed.

Keeper Yael saved Yaizas final penalty and Lanzarote won their second consecutive tournament this pre season.

In a game that was comfortable, the Rojillos manager Juan Antonio Machín will not be pleased with conceding these late goals.

Javi Martín got the ball rolling with a neatly taken goal in the 6th minute to give his side a 0-1 lead. The home side levelled with a thunderbolt 5 minutes later.

Nadjib restored Lanzarote’s lead in the 23rd minute and Román extended that advantage early in the second half to give the Rojillos a comfortable 1-3 lead.

Then came the fightback with ex Rojillo Roy giving Tinajo hope in the 89th minute and less than a minute later the home side were level at 3-3 to take the game to penalties.

Rojillos keeper Yael saved the first and that was to prove decisive as his teammates scored all of theirs.

Lanzarote will now play in the final on Saturday at 9pm versus San Bartolomé CF or CD U.S.Yaiza.

Their canteen is excellent with hot rolls and other refreshments readily available. Tinajo can sometimes be cold so definitely take along with you a good warm top.

An opportunity for youngsters to have a kickabout with the UD Lanzarote first team squad.

At 6.30pm (opposite Flintstones Bar) on Las Cucharas beach boys and girls are more than welcome to join the players on a gentle 15–20-minute jog along the promenade or beach.

Those children who find the journey a bit too much can just wait a little until the players return on the same route.

Photos of the players with children and fans will then take place on the beach before the players begin training. The session usually ends with a kickabout between the children and the players.

This is our 12^th Open Beach Training Session and as always everyone is welcome, so bring your family and friends in what is always a great fun day that is thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved, including the players, management and directors.

If you wish to come from Puerto Del Carmen catch the number 3 bus (goes back and forth every 20 minutes and journey is around 40 minutes) and get off at the bus stop outside Lanzarote Gardens, then head down to the promenade and walk right until you see The Flintstones Bar.

Ten minutes later Lanzarote were reduced to 10 men following a straight red card for striker Álvaro Cordero for dissent. The team regrouped and held their 1-0 lead with ease as they went into the interval.

In the opening few minutes of the second half the Rojillos were electric. After several chances they scored in the 49^th minute with a low strike from the edge of the box into the bottom left-hand corner by Ale Fuentes.

The 2-0 lead only lasted five minutes as San Bartolomé pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 from a powerful effort from 15 yards.

On the hour mark Isaac Morales won the ball near the oppositions corner flag and delivered a quick central pass that was intelligently dummied on route by Aco Hernández. Arriving at the far post was once again Ale Fuentes and he restored Lanzarote´s two goal cushion with a healthy 3-1 lead.

The 10 men of Lanzarote stood firm and comfortably held out to win the tournament.

The second period was more competitive as a match however Lanzarote should have found that second goal cushion.

Twelve minutes from time Nadjib had to go off with an injury and with all the subs used the Rojillos were forced to play with 10 men.

At the death Yaiza had their best effort of the match but the Lanzarote keeper Ruyman made a good save to deny Yaiza taking the match directly to penalties.

The third-place final takes place tomorrow at 6pm between Puerto Del Carmen and Yaiza and this is followed by the Gran final between Lanzarote and San Bartolomé at 8pm.

There will be buses organised from Puerto Del Carmen, Playa Honda, Costa Teguise and Arrecife to Argana return at a bargain price of 7 Euros per person. Doors open at 7pm with Bingo starting at 8pm.

Tickets for this event are 30 Euros (cash only in shop) which includes bingo tickets to all 7 games and snacks (picotea) which are surprisingly very good and incredible value.

In both years the atmosphere has been fantastic as the players sold the bingo cards and also acted as waiters delivering the food and drinks. It really was a great way to get to know some of the lads prior to the season starting on September 13^th. Everyone is welcome.

Tickets for this event will also be available on the Open Beach Training Day on Tuesday 18^th Aug at 6.30pm on Las Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise as well as season tickets (cash only). The beach event is open to all children who wish to join the first team squad in a light jog and training session and with photos with players.

UD Lanzarote play their second pre-season tournament at the Manuel Arrocha García stadium in Puerto Del Carmen (just past Montaña Tropical and above the Old Town in PDC) this week.

The tournament begins on Thursday 13^th August and ends Saturday 15^th. The four teams involved in the tournament are: UD Lanzarote, San Bartolomé CF, CDU Puerto Del Carmen and CD U.S. Yaiza.

Entrance is 5 Euros for adults per evening or 10 Euros for a ticket for the three evenings. Children 15 years and under are admitted free of charge. The cafeteria will be open so drinks and food will be available.

BEACH TRAINING DAY (18^th Aug Costa Teguise at 6.30pm)

On Tuesday 18^th August UD Lanzarote´s first team squad will be in Las Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise at 6.30pm for their annual beach training session.

A great fun day whereby children join the UD Lanzarote squad for light training and photos.

This is where youngsters are invited to join the first team squad for a warm up jog along the promenade. This is usually followed by a light training session and children will be able to have photos with the players.

Everyone is welcome. Local bus (number 3) from Puerto Del Carmen goes back and forth to Costa Teguise every 20 minutes.

The “Juan Morales Cáceres” tournament begins Thursday 20th August until Saturday 22nd Aug at the stadium in Tinajo. Entrance is usually 5 Euros.

BINGO EVENING 29^th August (Dual language Argana Baja in Arrecife at Sociocultural)

 The club will hold their fun dual language bingo evening with players serving the food and drinks on Saturday 29^th August. Doors open at 7pm with the Bingo beginning at 8pm.

Everyone is welcome to this great evening and buses will depart from The Biosfera shopping complex in Puerto Del Carmen and Playa Honda, whilst in Costa Teguise the bus will depart from the bus stop at Nazaret Apartments and then the stadium in Arrecife. Buses will also return everyone to those places.

The price is just 30 Euros which includes Bingo cards, snacks (picotea) which were excellent on previous occasions. The return bus journey is just 7 Euros. Fantastic prizes as always. More details will follow.
